aboutHailing from Vergennes, VT, Justin grew up in a household filled with music. His father, Bob Levinson–a well-known music teacher in the Champlain Valley–encouraged Justin to pick up a variety of instruments from an early age. By the time he hit high school, Justin was participating in District, All-State, and New England Music festivals, playing trumpet in the band, and singing in the chorus. Justin also began to explore music outside of school with his longtime friend, Adam Popick. Along with two other young musicians, they formed the locally-renowned funk/rock/pop band, Subside. With Justin on vocals and keys, Adam on bass, Zach Donohue on guitar, and Ryan Donnelly on drums, Subside won the title of “Best High School Band in Vermont, 2002” in the statewide Buzz Battle of the Bands. This prestigious award helped push the band into numerous gigs, radio interviews, and television appearances. Justin’s work in Subside helped him to sculpt his songwriting ability, and led to the start of a promising solo career as high school came to an end. After graduating from Vergennes Union High School in 2003, Justin chose to attend Boston’s Berklee College of Music–an institution known for helping aspiring musicians jumpstart their careers–and is currently finishing his B.M. in Songwriting. The significant progress that Justin has made since entering Berklee is evident in the 2005 release of 1175 Boylston, named for Justin’s first apartment, where most of the songs were written. Over the next few months, Justin will graduate from Berklee and begin serious work on promoting his career. He looks forward to seeing you at his next show, and thanks you in advance for all of your support as he moves towards the next phase! |
